This weekend we were invited up to a friend's ranch to hunt deer. The Freel's Ranch is a beautiful place. Rolling terrain, open meadows, thick forest. It holds a good quantity of whitetail deer. What makes the experience even better is the new ranch house...very comfy. It was designed by another friend of mine. He did a great job. Since he was also a former student, from back in the college teaching days, I'll take a little credit!
The Freel's Ranch has several double / triple deer blinds that were constructed for another father, son hunting party. I anticipate that we will squeeze into one and have a good setup. This will be the FIRST hunting trip that BOTH boys will accompany me. Neither will have a rifle...I think. But, we are stopping by Cabelas on the way out. You never know what will happen when entering such an establishment. The do have the wallet suck machine that they attach to all true hunters at the door. I've blogged about that before.
So, I'll be in the deer stand with an 8 year old and a 10 year old. Hummmmmm, I sense another story coming out of this..."Stop all that talking, stop fidgeting, be still, look for deer, no, I don't have a gameboy, we'll get something to eat back at the house, yes, you have to get out of the blind to pee..." Oh boy, I can't wait!

Politics Anyone?
An old friend of mine, who is now a pastor down in Round Rock, Texas, is a closet politician. While reading his personal blog, I followed a link to this blog entry about Pat Robertson endorsing Rudy Giuliani. Now, I have not made any comments about politics here before, but as this presidential race gets going in earnest, several might be forthcoming. I would encourage you to follow this link and read the blog. If you have questions about your political standings as they relate to Christ and His Word, it might help. Also, toward the bottom of the article, there is a link to an excerpt from John Piper. I have a lot of respect for Piper and would recommend you follow that link too.
